Forty-four nations were represented.
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin met with the defense leaders of 44 countries Monday morning to discuss Russia’s war on Ukraine. It was the second meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, which convened in late April at Ramstein Air Base in Germany. The defense minister of Ukraine participated in the virtual meeting to represent his country.
“We’ve watched these efforts make a real difference in real-time. Now, as Ukraine’s fight continues, our efforts must intensify, and we must all plan for the challenges ahead,” Secretary Austin said. The defense secretary said he was “very encouraged” by the progress that has been made since the United States and other allies’ first meeting.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Austin to seek God’s direction as he meets with foreign defense counterparts.
- For Pentagon officials as they monitor the war in Ukraine and advise the president.
- For wisdom for the defense secretary and allies as they seek to continue support for Ukraine.
